Efficiency is the watchword. And this is not new, considering the Digital Transformation that companies have been facing recently. We have always sought to do more in less time within organizations, and technology is one of the best allies to allow it.
Internet of Things projects are getting bigger every day. Would you want an example? The smart use of energy. Automating lighting and air conditioning control is a simple but very efficient initiative to reduce costs and environmental impacts. With sensors, it is possible to go beyond just “switching on and off” and regulating brightness and temperature. These devices allow you to analyze information and establish rules based on the data captured for automatic action.
However, this process automation with IoT is not exclusive to companies. It is an advantage for all people, in their homes, in their personal lives.
Smart homes
We’ve been hearing (for some time now) about smart homes. The idea is that, with connected devices and IoT, several processes within a house are fully automated, ensuring more agility, comfort, and safety to residents.
Most homes still cannot be considered smart. But, every big trend starts small, right? Data released by Forbes last year indicate that the market value of smart home devices is expected to grow from $55 billion in 2016 to $174 billion in 2025.
Knowing that, it is easier to understand this boost… I bet you have friends who bought (or are looking to buy) a robot vacuum or a smart scale, don’t you? The demand for devices like these grows every day.
Why buying if you can make it?
That’s right. You can do a lot at home with IoT – that’s why we created EUGENIO. With our platform it is much easier to design some projects and we can prove it. Bruno Germano, who is a developer, has just automated the control of his cat litter stock with EUGENIO.
He’s developed a smart scale that lets you know when the cat litter is about to run out. This way, he avoids finding out that the cat litter ended overnight and having to run out to buy a more expensive bag at the nearest pet shop. Check out this project in the videos:
